OFSAA renews Baden, chooses new volleyball for 2017-18

Apr 20, 2017 | Uncategorized

Baden Sports and OFSAA are happy to announce a new multiyear renewal of Baden as the federation’s official volleyball supplier.

The new agreement introduces Baden’s most-advanced microfiber volleyball, VCOR™, as the official ball to be used exclusively in all OFSAA-sanctioned championships and events beginning with the 2017-18 school year.

The VCOR replaces Baden’s Perfection® leather game volleyball as the official ball. The transition from a leather to a microfiber game ball aligns OFSAA more closely with trends in the international game.

“We are honored and excited to continue as the official volleyball supplier of the OFSAA,” said Michael Schindler, CEO, Baden Sports. “Our mission has always been to make the game better for the player. VCOR fulfills that mission in every way and we’re looking forward to players experiencing the exceptional quality, innovation, and performance that was built into this ball from the start.”

Baden spent more than three years developing VCOR, a process that included extensive wind tunnel analysis, computer modeling, and beta testing with elite players in the U.S. and Canada. The goal was a ball that could play to the relative strengths of both power hitters and float servers; specifically, one that would fly straighter when hit harder and move more unpredictably when hit softer. Baden product engineers achieved that objective with a unique 12-panel construction, flatter seams, and a dimpled proprietary cover material called TruFlite™.

“Baden has been a great partner for us with their Volleyball and we’re excited to have them back with even more advanced equipment,” said Shamus Bourdon, Assistant Director, OFSAA. “Our boys’ and girls’ Championships benefit greatly from the support of Baden and it will be exciting to see them use the VCOR in OFSAA Championship action!”

The model number for the new official ball is V5S-220 for boys and girls. It can be purchased, along with all of Baden’s volleyballs, carts, and accessories, through authorized team dealers. For more information, visit www.badencanada.com.
