Inaugural Ultimate Festival Coming In October

Sep 25, 2019 | Uncategorized

OFSAA is pleased to announce the addition of Co-ed Ultimate as a sanctioned event in 2019.

Ultimate participation numbers have steadily increased in Ontario high schools over the past 10 years, surpassing 6000 participants in 2019-2020. Over that time, a group of teacher-coaches, led by Kevin Macleod from Bowmanville High School (LOSSA), and Jon Grimwood from Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School (COSSA) worked diligently on meeting requirements and preparing the application. Ultimate was officially approved by OFSAA membership in April 2019.

This year’s Ultimate Festival will be hosted by St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School (GHAC) on October 31 and November 1st.

“We’re excited to host the inaugural OFSAA Ultimate Festival. In our region, we started as a club team in 2002. It’s been incredible to watch the sport grow in all regions from our grassroots beginnings. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Oakville,” stated Convenor Kevin Wong.

Thank you to all teacher-coaches throughout the province for providing positive opportunities for students within school sport.
