Welcome to the new school year!
It is with great pride that I assume the role of President of OFSAA in 2023. I have been fortunate to have athletics as a large part of my personal and professional life, and know the valuable role that sports have played in creating the person I am today. I am even more privileged to be able to lead OFSAA through its 75th Anniversary this year. What a remarkable history to recognize!
Please keep an eye out for a number of events and activities, listed below, to salute and celebrate the history of OFSAA and the people who have made it what it is today.
I am currently a Vice Principal at Dundas Valley Secondary School, which brings me full circle as I started high school there when it was Highland, many years ago. In my 26 plus years in education, I have always been an advocate and supporter of Sports and Physical Education, but I have always held student-athletes accountable for their academic responsibilities. OFSAA’s “Education Through School Sport” motto is the ultimate goal. We strive to develop great students, athletes, and people who excel in areas of leadership, equity, diversity, inclusivity, integrity and respect, in addition to their athletic skills.
To the athletes and teams, I wish you all the best in your seasons and hope you achieve great success, be that in your league or at an OFSAA event. I encourage students and teachers to “participate to celebrate” our anniversary with a fun, collective school activity for OFSAA DAY on April 24.
Always remember to represent your school, community and most of all, yourself, with pride and sportsmanship!
Sincerely,
Scott
